La Ventana and El Sargento are two Mexican fishing villages located 35 minutes southeast of La Paz. Palapas Ventana is situated between the two villages overlooking the Sea of Cortez and Cerralvo Island.
We chose this area to build our resort for many reasons: the beauty of the water and island, the scenic sierras behind us, and the warm friendliness of the Mexican people who live here. Most locals know very little English if any. So try speaking Spanish, no matter how little you know. The locals love to help you out!Palapas Ventana’s central location in Baja allows you to explore our towns on foot. There are taco stands and restaurants in the area such as El Rincon de La Bahia, El Viento Norte Restaurant, Rafa’s Tacos, Tacos Leon, Crazy Chela’s and Palapas Ventana Restaurant. For night time entertainment, enjoy a drink with fellow kiters and divers at the Palapas Ventana Bar or walk to 2 other local bars nearby. You’ll also find several small tiendas (stores) that sell basic food items, drinks, beer, etc., and a local carniceria (meat market). We’ll provide you with a list of stores and restaurants and a map. If there is anything you can’t find, just ask us for help.
