Tim Hatler - General Manager
As General Manager of Palapas Ventana, Tim’s top priority is to ensure that our guests are happy and having fun! He motivates our employees to give excellent service, plans ahead for every detail to ensure smooth and safe activities, looks for ways to improve our services and facilities continuously, and enjoys working hard. Tim fell in love with the magic of Mexico during his first Baja surf trip at age 15 and has been returning regularly to experience its friendly culture and ocean sports. Tim loves surfing, diving, spear fishing, windsurfing, sailing, kite boarding and fishing in LaVentana and surrounding areas. |

Tim’s credentials:
- Grew up in sailboat and windsurfing family businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area
- Has a BS in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara
- 4 years experience as Captain on California Dive Boats doing diving, spearfishing & education trips in Channel Islands and Baja
- Founding Director of CIMI Tall Ship Expeditions, a live aboard sail training/marine science program for kids on the 156 ft. 3 mast schooner, the Tole Mour
- Currently continuing to act as summer Captain on the Tole Mour in addition to being General Manager of Palapas Ventana
- PADI and NAUI Dive Master

Karon Hatler - Administrative Manager
As Administrative Manager of Palapas Ventana, Karon’s top priority is to ensure that guests are happy and having fun! She has very high standards for giving excellent service, and her focus is to provide clean, comfortable accommodations with a Mexican décor. Karon fell in love with the magic of Mexico 6 years ago during the Hatler family’s first trip to Baja for the X-mas holidays. That trip became a tradition every year after, and the friendly culture and climate of the La Ventana area are the reasons Karon decided to live here. Karon loves to snorkel, sail, hike, read, dance and work with pottery/ceramics. |

Mari Lucero - Chef & Housekeeper
Having owned her own restaurant previously, Mari knows authentic Mexican cooking like no other. From her tantalizing tamales, albondigos, homemade tortillas, and killer chiliquiles to her sumptuous sauces and salsas, you will look forward to every meal with us. Mari's first love is cooking and her second love is her three beautiful granddaughters. |
